Four Mile Circus - Toffee Apples and Candyfloss

Said hey there baby, if ya want a cone, come to the wrong place but don't go
Well i might be closing up for the night, but some of my stories are outta sight
You wouldn't believe the things I've seen
Selling toffee apples and candyfloss dreams

Well let me tell you about Ruth Ponticoe, weighed 16 pounds as a baby you know
Reached 700 by the end of her life, choked on her own vomit, well that's her plight
Guess she had too many toffee apples
Well, you wouldn't believe the things that I've seen
Selling toffee apples and candyfloss dreams

All the sights, and flashing lights
The shouts and the screams of candyfloss dreams
Well the things they hide

Well then there was 'lobster boy' Gandy Stiles, hands and feet
Pretty messed up and they were real strong, and he'd choke people
He drank a lot and beat his wife up, so she had him shot
Also, there was the Siamese twins Chang and Eng
They were sold for 500 dollars, grew up
And became slave owners, don't life take a funny turn
Well, you wouldn't believe the things that I've seen
Selling toffee apples and candyfloss dreams

All the sights, and flashing lights
The shouts and the screams of candyfloss dreams
Well the things they hide

Lions, tigers, and bears. Well this ain't the wizard of oz but
I knew a guy a one-armed man called Massarti, a lion tamer
Got ripped apart in front of everyone one-night, fantastic show
Then there was Mary the elephant, she trampled her handler
And people wanted retribution, so they hung that elephant by a crane
Chain broke and Mary fell and broke her hip, then they just dangled her in the air
Well, you wouldn't believe the things that I've seen
Selling toffee apples and candyfloss dreams

All the sights, and flashing lights
The shouts and the screams of candyfloss dreams
Well the things they hide

Well what's my story, I had a brother Jesse Ringling
We had the greatest show on earth, and the biggest circus tent
Held 7000 people, to keep the tent waterproof we used paraffin wax on the canvas
Well a light got too close whole thing went up. 169 people died
I lost everything and Jesse lost his life, took me a while to recover from that one
So, with all my dealings and schemes
I'm just left here selling toffee apples and candyfloss dreams

All the sights, and flashing lights
The shouts and the screams of candyfloss dreams
Well the things they hide
