Seb Woodland - Vela's Song

Just a whisper of wind
In the shadow of the night
With an ancient forged blade
From which dimly shines a light
Clad in tightly worn garb
Made of cloth and armoured hide
She's a vixen black furred
With a certain, quiet stride
From a country at war
Where her people are enslaved
As a child she fled
Till the day her home is saved
Now she travels the land
Maybe searching for a home
With an uncertain path
Till she finds it she will roam

Vela what do you long to whisper into the night
Do you dream of adventure and a home now out of sight
While you rest in these halls, you know destiny calls
Keep that flame in your heart burning bright

For a good while she stayed
In a inn's room she had claimed
But her stay was cut short
For a murder she was framed
Though she sometimes did steal
And she sometimes busted locks
She was not one to kill
Just a weary lonesome fox
She ran far from the town
But despite all of the pain
She continued to laugh
She would make things right again
She would help those she could
While she searched the countryside
For the murderer's trace
She would hunt him far and wide

Vela what do you long to whisper into the night
Do you dream of adventure and a home now out of sight
While you rest in these halls, you know destiny calls
With the sword at your side you can fight

When a centaur she met
Who she spoke with to confide
He had owned a small bar
And he welcomed her inside
"I am sorry" he said
"Let me see what I can do"
Food and water he gave
And their friendship quickly grew
When at last he appeared
The assassin clad in black
Vela wasted no time
As she charged for her attack
But she needed more help
Since the murderer had fled
So the centaur she asked
This is what the centaur said:

"Vela I used to long to journey into the night
I have lived the adventure but I don't know what is right
While I rest in this hall to stay safe from it all
Promise me that you'll please be alright"

"I am sorry" he said
"That is more than I can do"
"Though I carry this shield"
"It is suited more to you"
"Though I may appear strong"
"I am not a fighting man"
"And I wish you the best"
"You should chase him while you can"
So she said her farewell
To the only friend she knew
And her paws hit the road
As she disappeared from view
She ran far from the town
But despite all of the pain
She continued to laugh
She would make things right again

Vela what do you long to whisper into the night
Do you dream of adventure and a home now out of sight
While you rest in these halls, you know destiny calls
With the light deep inside, make things right
