Bradders - Modern Servitude

Spent my time in the classroom
Years behind a desk
Reading books and writing papers
Just to pass a test

Preparing for the future
In a world I had to impress
I send in applications
But they don't get no interest

I could join the army go to war
But turpitude is something I abhor
Or stay at home without a job to do
But school never taught me how to beg for food

Its modern servitude modern servitude
How many years will I be used
Its modern servitude modern servitude
And my degree won't buy me food

I'm scared of the impact that money can wield over me
Cause I'm pinned down by the gig economy

They say I need experience
And internship is the way
But there ain't much out there
And you know you ain't no slave

Corporations policy
Is you work for minimum wage
And so we live in poverty
Even in this day and age

So what am I supposed to do
Does anybody have a clue
Student loans are a ball and chain
Will I ever see the light of day again

Its modern servitude modern servitude
How many years will I be used
Its modern servitude modern servitude
And my degree won't buy me food

No no no my degree won't buy me food
No no my degree won't buy me food
