Silvertongue - Coyote

The first blood moon
Conjured a deity
Below a willow tree
The Coyote
Has a propensity
For mischief and trickery
Old winds, brought new disdain
So Coyote played
Coyote saw a creature
Such grace and size
A two legged beast
Gleam in its eye
Coyote plucked a star
Fire from the sky
Told his friends
To light the night
As the flames grew large, so did the egos
Not animals
They are men
They are people
Man became faster
Man went farther
In time forgot
Who bestowed fire upon them
Coyote grew enraged
But he knew the secret
Man loves warmth
And will fight to keep it
Coyote laughed
For coyote knew
The larger the flame
The greater the chance of being consumed
