Marilyn Oakley - Love Will Find a Way

Early morning snowfall
Footprints lead to their door
A gift was left on the step
But no tag to who it was for

Little Andy lifts and shakes it
Younger Angie's eyes grow wide
They look at their mom
Then bring the gift inside

Their momma is trembling
Holding this box wrapped in white
Not understanding why this gift
Brings tears to her eyes

Love will find a way
On every Christmas Day
They say Home is where the heart is
And that's the place to start if
You believe and pray
Love will find a way

Momma slowly opens the box
Andy and Angie cling to her arms
She reaches in and pulls out
A big red heart shaped card

Words in handwriting
From a father they hardly knew
Starts out "I love you all
And I miss you very much too"

Tears stream down her face
As she kisses Andy and Angie's head
She continues through tremling lips
As she reads what it says

Love will find a way
On every Christmas Day
They say Home is where the heart is
And that's the place to start if
You believe and pray
Love will find a way

I'm sorry I had to go off to fight a war
I'd rather be with you than on some foreign shore
If you look inside the closet by the front door
Is a gift Santa thought you'd be looking for

Love will find a way
On every Christmas Day
They say Home is where the heart is
And that's the place to start if
You believe and pray
Love will find a way
