Feathers Wise - The Third Wish

I awake at midnight
In the pentagram
With a beautiful witch
And no memory of the days before

She is ageless
A ritual of one
Wears the colors of the earth
And smiles like the sun

She has a star on her temple
And an ankh on her chest
She points to an hourglass
Between my breasts

And she says
"Now your third wish
What will it be?
What will it be?"

What will it be?
What will it be?
I'm not ready

I ask her, "What happened to the first two wishes?"
She says, "The first was to become what you are
The second, to forget what you were
And now your third wish, what will it be?"

I ask, "Will you teach me what to wish for?"

Tongues of neon fire scream from out her whips
And shards of living lightning spill from out her lips
Streams of liquid starlight pour from out her eyes
Snake across the dust, and arrive
Sweet and fragrant on my tongue

What will it be?
What will it be?
I'm not ready

A burning flush of quicksilver at the base of my spine
And the starlight rises vertebrae by vertebrae
Until it pours from out my eyes as well

The colors of the earth
Become the colors of the sky
And the Goddess steps forth

She adorns her forehead
With terror and fearsome radiance
At dawn we climb the mountain path
And arrive at the gate of wonder

She makes an offering and speaks this prayer
"You made me to ask a question
And I made you to answer"

What will it be?
What will it be?
I'm not ready

The gate opens, and we pass beyond
To the Palace of the moon
And the Goddess fills her seat
In honor of heaven, and she says

"The moment that you know yourself
Is living in your future
And the distance from your heart
Is ebbing as you learn to listen

As you grow and as you glisten
In the light behind the door
The radiance alive
And singing from those distant shores"

And she says, "Your third wish, my love
What will it be?"

What will it be?
What will it be?
What will it be?
What will it be?
