Castañeda - Once Upon a Time in Havana

A tornado hit Havana last night
I hassle to write
The damage a disastrous sight
A baffling height
Of which debris was cast into flight
Imagine the fright
Roofs lifted from homes reveal the Blackest of nights
And half of these homes weren't Built to face catastrophe like this
It passed without warning
Leaving Them in a scrambling crisis
Through gasping and crying
Watching abodes collapse from the violence
Of natural disaster
Once it passes they grasp it in silence
The homes they spend they whole life building
Now just ashes they lie in
A week later a meteor hits
Imagine the timing
I bet they wonder why it had to be them
For 60 years they calamity felt
Has been dealt
By A government who's savagery
Can be most candidly described
As ravaging death
Only God can feel the passion packed in my pen
My wrath don't relent
Cuz While Cubans helped their Neighbors themselves
The government charged them for Food and water, and labeled it help
Shameful at best
I empathize with pain unexpressed
Cuz silence is the thing separates the safe from oppressed
The place is a mess
And the saddest part that pains me to vent
I can't tell between what the government and tornado wrecked

My heart aches, As i write this
Knowing a mother searching through the night
For her son
Only to never find him
God I hope she finds him

My heart aches as I write this, and my reason is plain
Because for 60 years I've watched dictators lead them astray
My people today
Are imprisoned, some are beaten in chains
Others take a raft to the ocean, because the reasons to stay
Grow scarce as their own family can't eat for the day
They'd prefer the bite of a shark, then to be treated as prey
Ironic
The type of tragedy and deep seeded trauma
Is passed down the line of generations
Each year it haunts them
It's no wonder the alcoholism is seen at each party
It's no wonder they patriotic, look what they freedom cost them
And for every reason mine chose to lead the way
For their sacrifice, this country will never be the same
A dictators lies
Finds Misinformed minds
My pistol worn
Better hope this finger don't find
My trigger
Known this from the beginning
Your lies
Convincing for only those
Who didn't know you as I
Your supporters more the
Likes of a liquor store line
Gotta be faded to find
Innocence in your mind
All the stories you are telling
Could be printed for Times
Call reporters who are selling these
A issue for a dime
No idols that form a graven image will shine
My hour is coming, better hope these lyrics kill time
Cuz yo power is running out
And your limit you will find at the sound of the trumpet
Skies that you limited
Will shine uninhibited views
For every Cuban you kept clouded
From witnessed news outlets
That portray The truth bout
How you killed and abused the island
They still using two tablets
Of wood just to cruise out it
These sharks finding food out it
And you got the nerve to talk about embargo from this country
You prosper on private islands, a Mother walks a child hungry
Just to make a line in hopes the monthly ration meets they need
While you cappin' Americans like Colin Kaepernick believe you
And they become another cod on your propaganda machine
Try to walk Miami streets
Fidel Castro on a T, Kap
See how fast you get approached by Those who actually have seen
They friends get shot up for refusing to redact what they believe
It's funny how the biggest activists who bash hypocrisy
Embrace a system
Where historically they cap you if you speak
I write this to enlighten with a tight fist to the sky
Fit with the might of a million titans and a vice grip
To the spine
Split
Cuz I might risk my own life
Quick
If i knew I'd switch the situation
For Cubans
With my grip on the knife
In the ribs of Tyrant
I will not quit
Til The end of Time I'm rapping to make path for family
Life's a circle
Like my momma when she had to paddle seas
To catch that open door before they took her pops and moms for keeps
Scoffed and locked the key
And said if they came back they'd not be free
When a tornado hits Havana they true colors are shown
They delay assistance, but fast to check the governments homes
And tourist spots, hotels filled formerly owned
Furniture stolen from homes of
Those who had chosen
Freedom, comfort zone they'd leave
For a bleak reason
They'd undergo great grief and risk being eaten
Their decision to leave would put their family in harms way
Yet they persisted, foreseeing the Path before them they insisted
Brave resistance
Looked to the face of opposition
And said I'd rather die by water
Than waste in your faulty system
Cause we all know that Communism's a coffin given
To the free man to block they vision
Draw they image
And box them in til all they think of is
Loss prevention
So focus on survival
That they lost ambition
Could only be found if the government that
Stole it gives it back
Once the Cuban people realize that
And turn it back
It's over
Cuz oppression can't last if it's known of
Cuz oppression can't last if it's known of
