The Bearing - Toubkal

Listening to the water fall off the edge of the world
Watching while the bearded eagles
Circle around me
Below the snow line
Above the last tree
Waiting for the shadow fingers to reach our home
Where we're all alone tonight
Under fire from shooting stars that set the soul ablaze
Tiny sparks of hidden dreams glimpsed through the midnight haze
Tell me what you're thinking
Else I'm make-believing
That perhaps we stand a chance
Bare and gently brazen
Says she's for the taking
Holds me out her hand to dance
Suddenly I'm expertly spiralling inside out
And I feel that magic thrill
My body's in no doubt
Still don't know her name or recognise her game
But tempted by a fine romance
Catching breath in desert air at the base of the pass
Gasping as the locals nimbly ascend with no fuss
Laden with cargo
Zig-zag above us
Every step I venture into my reverie
Where I'm all at sea again
Counting down the seconds 'til you climb into my bed
Mounting up the reasons why that should fill me with dread
Tell me what you're thinking
Else I'm make-believing
That perhaps we stand a chance
Bare and gently brazen
Says she's for the taking
Holds me out her hand to dance
Suddenly I'm expertly spiralling inside out
And I feel that magic thrill
My body's in no doubt
Still don't know her name or recognise her game
But tempted by a fine romance
Whispering in the spiritual hush of a black mountainside
Gathering are a line of headlamps
Jostling like fireflies
Across the boulders
Before the sunrise
Tingling are a dozen fingers and hungry minds
Wondering what we'll find up there?
Goats that blithely pirouette on slopes we'd surely die
Hopes that soar and silhouette against that piercing sky
Tell me what you're thinking
Else I'm make-believing
That perhaps we stand a chance
Bare and gently brazen
Says she's for the taking
Holds me out her hand to dance
Suddenly I'm expertly spiralling inside out
And I feel that magic thrill
My body's in no doubt
Still don't know her name or recognise her game
But tempted by a fine romance
Fine romance
