John Bryan - ...The Process

I feel I've journeyed enough
I been on this road of self discovery for years still I lust
I've learned a lot of how displaced is my motivation to bust
I've learned my source of validation is engraved in my wants
There's still that discontentment
Like you've held out on me
And maybe I'm complaining to much about it but It ain't me that they want
The more I walk the less is clear but I see more of my faults
What's the cause I think depression comes from my lack of arrival
Who would have thought
With a degree I'd prefer backpack survival
My wife's the grace that I needed keeping me taking to reason
And taking baby steps even though I'd barely take to believing
In singleness I used to think all this waiting was reaching
But that time alone was needed to prepare my soul for this season
God I know what embrace the process means
A shift of focus from honing all of my skill to blow up and feeling hopeless
To releasing control of my need to know and finding your joy moment to moment
Lord I'm thankful for what you're showing me
And finally when we talk I feel you know it's me
I'm still insecure and I'm not sure that I'm worth the progression you've bought
But at least I know I'm not alone
Thank you for blessing our walk
The Process is the goal
And God it's you that I want
The Process is the goal
And God it's you that I want
The Process is the goal
So I must embrace it

It's been a long road road
Embrace the Process

I've struggled so long
Embrace the Process

It's been a long road road
Embrace the Process

I've struggled so long
Embrace the Process

It's been a long road road
Embrace the Process

I've struggled so long
Embrace the Process

It's been a long road road
It's been a long
I've struggle so

Embrace the Process

It's easy to get hung up about what I don't have
Deliverance from insecurities
To the lack of vocab to grow past
Acknowledgment to acceptance of the hand I've been dealt
Thinking about the rejection
Not knowing the feelings I felt
I want to be able to see it in spades and take what can help
But you tryna give me the heart to give up what would make us a mill(ion)
All the aggression, anger, resentment
Towards the sperm donor who chose to leave
Could have been harnessed to produce 3 Marshall Mathers LP's
I don't want to believe I am as broken as he
In a sense I'm no different,
Just wanna make a living sowing a seed
Lord help me move to giving back from the life that you done birthed
Cultivating what's planted I used to think was so much work
But God you showing me my laziness is really so much hurt
Imploded and manifested into self hatred
Then I compensate by wanting to be self made it's
The reason I get depressed
I feel stuck then I get stressed
So I strive and strive so I don't end up in a ditch
Then I get to comparing my life to others and I wanna dip
I'm glad you want me
But the shrapnel of abandonment still haunts me
I know that you want me
But God
Why didn't they want me?
I'm glad you want me
But God
Why didn't they want me
Why didn't they want me?
Father I'm
Glad that you want me
I'm glad that you want me
I'm glad that you want me
I'm glad that you're my Father
And that you want me
Help me to Embrace this Process

I've struggled so long long
My God
Embrace
My God is my Home
Embrace
My God is my Home My Safe Place
Embrace the Process

My God is my HomeMy Safe Place
In the Process
