Jan Thompson - Your Fishing Boat

Your fishing boat
Sitting on the sand that's damp with spray
From the waves coming in from the sea
My loose hair's been tussling hard against the storm
That's been whistling past my ears relentlessly
I don't feel the wind that batters my clothes
Or the cold that has now reached my skin
I keep watch across the sea in darkening skies
That's as black as the night could ever bring
Praying for the storm to blow your fishing boat home
I can't stand the thought of you out there alone
Hoping that the waves won't make your fishing boat break
Just the thought of this is making my heart ache
Something makes me turn towards the bay
Where the fishing boats are moored before they sail
On the harbour wall the villagers wait
At the mercy of the storm that brought this gale
