Willows Young Crow - Poor Magpie

Poor Magpie she plays
In a gutter made for rain
Dressed up in a coat
Of dust and decay
Poor Magpie she stared
With her empty eyes
Poor Magpie she lays
With her head on a grate
One wing hanging down
In the dark of the drain
Poor Magpie she stared
With her beak open wide

Poor Magpie she knows
She's flown far from home
Saw her resting her bones by the side of the road
Poor Magpie she sat
So quiet and wilted
Poor Magpie she's frozen
Skin shivering and cold
Unraveled about,
Spilled her heart like a poem
Poor Magpie she sat
So lifeless and still

The traffic downtown it was booming
So densely packed nothing's moving
Like organs inside of a body
Not properly working and rotting

Poor Magpie she's sleeps
So scrawny and lean
Dozed off on her bed
Of expired receipts
Poor Magpie she rests
So gone and alone
Poor Magpie she dreams
Took a dive in the deep
That sea was as blue as the bruise on her cheek
Poor Magpie she rests
In depths so unknown
