The Cooks - Drowning (And It's Exactly Like Bukowski Said It Would Be)

I've been touched by fire, now I'm drowning in flame, as we recite poetry, first you and Then me
The tiger it burns bright maybe too bright to see, but I still saw it, and then I saw it fall
They say the ones with this make the best art and I know that is true, for I've read Almost all her poetry
Your work is glorious

Now she's manic

She told me I didn't get it as I sat speechless on the stairs
I couldn't find the words to say my parents passed these same demons down to me

The rats were not as thirsty as us, but they were twice as cute as they kissed each other All night while we slept
We run back to my car and shotgun Aldi beer between bands
Those boys are fucking Clowns but I still love them anyway
There'll be hours of silence in these galleries
And hours of silence in our bed because sometimes there's just nothing left to say
And it's better off that way

His wrists read Plan B but hers were the first point of call
As I finish this record in the bathroom where she tried to End it all
But somehow she survived and I hope she's doing well
For she deserves it, oh you know that she deserves it
