It's summer '07 going into my senior year
Hanging with that cool crew, on all the varsity teams
And making Myspace raps about unoriginal things
Yeah it seemed, from my eyes at age sixteen
Nothing could stop me sitting on top of that high school scene
I remember one night, at this party kicking back
My boy took my phone and changed his contact
To where his name was the same as this girl I was seeing
And shortly after I heard the sound of text messages ringing
Flip my phone up, I see her name and read the text
It said we need to talk, I just took a test
I began to sweat, fingers fumbling on that T9
New Razr phone could not predict what's on my mind
My uncle told me not to do it but I didn't care
Now I'm stuck like my class desk to its chair
It was crazy, but this was just a prank
But looking back it foreshadowed summer 2008
Off to college I was, when my iPhone buzzed
This LA girl that I loved said that she was driving up

I hardly had a relationship with mine
But I became a father myself in 2009
Two final exams then rushing up the I-5
April 29th was the craziest drive
Little man in my arms was suddenly all that mattered
But the world around me was starting to shatter
Rumors spread like vines, like little dude wasn't mine
All these Sac Town families all wanting to damage me
And just break us apart, and boy it was hard
Had to lean all the way on god to guide my heart
So in 2010 her brothers didn't agree
But I went back to Kum Laude an engineering degree
Three more years, no shortness of tears
On this roller coaster track just trying to steer
Age 21 I'm already like, "is this forever?"
We keep breaking up and then just getting back together
So I turned to music to keep my head level
Focus on my studies so god-willing that all of us could be together

That's what'll lead us to a life we dream of
