Wake-Up Screaming - Detrital Snow (For Michael)

Tattered snapshot from a happier time
Unsettled memories of a friend of mine
Standing on a headland with a perilous climb
Overlooking the maritime

Taking in the color of the crashing tide
The hue accented by glistening debris
Finding comfort in the sulphurous smell
And the water's murky consistency

The picture torments with the story it tells
An antiquated version of ourselves
A long-forgotten feeling overwhelms
As we acknowledge our final farewells

Ashes scattered to the sea
The riptide stimulates a steady flow
Particles mixing with the dead of the deep
Fragmented and swallowed as detrital snow
