N.E. Dub - Wonder Is the Beginning of Wisdom

I've tried prayer and I've tried meditation
Read the Bible and questioned God's creation
I ate my body weight in mushrooms
But I never found the truth I was seeking
I've read Plato, Socrates, and Voltaire
Searched for meaning in suffering and despair
Every question led me to another
But there's gotta be some truth in what they're speaking

The nuns and priests and the Catholic guilt that I felt
Only taught me that we're already in hell
College offered me world religions
But they only brought the same doubt I was facing
2C-I, DMT and psilocybin
Offered insights, but Jesus seemed to hide them
Asking "why" would label you a sinner
It became clear this faith would need replacing

Maybe that's the point
We're not supposed to know
What this life's all about
And where do we go
As long as we're asking why
And questioning what we're told
We're contributing to the growth of our souls
We were given the gift
Of brilliant, curious minds
It would be such a shame to keep them confined
So, we keep asking why
And questioning what we're told
And refuse to give any dogma control

I tried looking to science for the meaning
But the absence of spirit was misleading
Once again I found only a half truth
There's gotta be a little room made for the abstract
I always try to remain hopeful
I suggest you consider my proposal
We are not meant to know the answers
Questioning gives purpose to our life's path
