Luke Frees - Everybody Stumbles

We drove through the night
Till at last we reached the coast
Cut the lights and rolled to a stop
I should be home
But I’d been sleeping like a ghost
And anyway, we had the music you’d brought
It’d been a long strange drive
I’d hardly seen your face
When the silence got too loud
Sometimes I’d turn the volume up
Pressed to the window
Your eyes were wide awake
And you’d sigh and put a hand on my arm
Now we sit, shoulder to shoulder
And the air is getting colder
And so, I’m afraid, are you and I
You said you’re starting to crumble
But everybody stumbles
No one can stand on their own
All the time
The sea was deserted
Even the fish had gone to sleep
And I wondered what the point was
Of driving to the beach
In the moment
It’s fine to follow your feet
But if you fall, my hands are still within reach
Now we sit, shoulder to shoulder
And the air is getting colder
And so, I’m afraid, are you and I
You said you’re starting to crumble
But everybody stumbles
No one can stand on their own
All the time
