J Minor - Socially Distant

(You Need Tint For This Shit)
An artist's duty, as far as I'm concerned, is to reflect the times
I think that is true of painters, sculptors, poets, musicians
As far as I'm concerned, it's their choice
But I choose to reflect the times and situations in which I find myself
That to me is my duty
And at this crucial time in our lives, when everything is so desperate
When every day is a matter of survival, I don't think you can help but be involved
Young people, black and white know this, that's why they're so involved in politics
We will shape and mold this country (Jay)
Or it will not be molded and shaped at all anymore
So I don't think you have a choice, how can you be an artist and not reflect the time
That to me is the definition of an artist
Them blue lights give me anxiety since my adolescences
We didn’t call 'em for problems we just kept protection
They planted pills in my whip I’m too smart that
I guess I fit the description because I’m young and black
I spark a blunt for my friends that’s dead and gone
If you love ya I love ya but don’t judge by my phone
I guess I’m back to the basics I’m to use that
The KK calling the shots but we throw em back
Take pride in giving not taking but don’t get me mistaken
Sacrificed to wear this crown it ain’t just celebrating
A lot of hating a lot of waiting a lot of concentrating
You crashed out you coulda fixed it with a conversations
Draco tucked in my jacket before the shit was cool
No matter which way you hype it when you die you lose
I'm prophetic I reap fruit from the shit I built
Let 'em talk I ain’t responding to no spilled milk
Burberry on my tips toes so I’m walking lite
Subcompact in the mall I’m too clean to fight
Couple chains couple dollars couple fucking problems
Take the thorns with the buds when you fucking awesome
Brought ya strap left your heart you just drunk and high
They burning bridges for pussy when it’s in high supply
Don’t come laughing and talking unless you got a mask
Ain’t no refunds on love so don’t even ask
(Its Jay)
You know its crazy, cause like
This young lady I went to school with died from that covid 19 shit the other day
And what's crazy is she was younger than me
Bless her family
Bless her heart
I'm social distancing
