The Heart's Intent - Night Into Day

For I recognize my rebellion
It haunts me day and night
Against you and you alone I have sinned
I have done what is evil in your sight
With temptations I am filled
Don't keep looking at my sins
Remove this stain of guilt
I am all too human a slave to sin
I want to do what's right but that's a hard fight within
So I do what I hate
Make a mistake and in turn I question my faith
Is this why I was made

Where is our hope
If the only home we hope for is the grave
Will we just descend together into dust
Can we comprehend the weight we gave
To Jesus as he took our place out of love for us
Should we just run and hide
As our fear and shame rot inside our core
For who could ever survive
If you kept a record of our sins oh Lord
And yet you showed us compassion just as we are
How far how far did you carry me
I'm unworthy of your mercy yet you call me blameless
I have no doubt now not even the faintest
Your perfect love casts out all fear
Now in the face of darkness I see the light is near
I no longer doubt my faith because I see your grace
He fulfilled the law that we may be able to look upon his face

Your mercies begin afresh
At the dawning of each day
Your mercies will never cease
Your grace it carries me
Sin is no longer my master for I am under grace
