Letters of Transit - Blood on the Road

Civil discourse is on the rocks
Are we about to explode?
When I turn on the talking box
There’s only blood on the road
Tired lies meeting tired eyes
Is there a path I can’t see?
As everything seems to fall apart
Each day a different disease
I believe we all have things to learn
As this dumpster fire seems to burn
Is this the country I thought it was?
We topple fascist regimes
Where punching Nazis was common place
And no race was supreme
Where everybody could disagree
And even take up a side
Where things were never quite perfect but
There was a mandate to strive
I believe we all have things to learn
As this dumpster fire seems to burn
I believe we all have things to
Learn about ourselves
Even if that means
Discovering things we don’t like
