City Mouth - Fall Songs

All these sad songs hit me when I’m down
I’m trying hard to shake this
Sickness going through this town
Like crying is contagious
I bathe in the gloom
The weather wears my patience
My mouth like a wound
I stitch it up and fake it
The air, the air is cold and wearing me bare
I fooled myself again, no one was there
My sleepy sorrows taunt me as they call
I build my spirits just to watch ‘em fall
I’ve been hoping, praying for a sign
To tell me I should move on
I’m scared to leave it all behind
Been stuck between for too long
I’m leaving the room
Still haunting what’s behind me
I’m passing right through
To somewhere they won’t find me (there)
The air, the air is cold and wearing me bare
I fooled myself again, no one was there
My sleepy sorrows taunt me as they call
I build my spirits just to watch ‘em fall
Couple steps and I’ll fall back down
Tell myself that I’ll reach the top next time around
As winter rolls around
Double check that I’m still alive
Dust the shelves and I might just find
A holy ghost, a shred of hope
That I could be fine, I could be alright
