Last BeNeVoLeNcE - If Work Didn't Suck

If only work didn't suck so much, it's just such a slug
Just getting up, it sucks
Wakin in the mornin' yawning and complainin' it's borin'
Every single day, going, leavin', leavin' and goin'
Treated like pawn and it make you wanna groan and
Pause for moments use words like doggone it
Sing a sad song and go on and on and on
No time to moan instead pass the mic back
I really wish day jobs wasn't like that
It ain't quite like as if we can strike back
Like the empire did to the rebels in I-Max
Theatres, if you get my point
This is real life not insert your favorite fantasy of choice
I can move hearts, just by speaking with my voice
Make the shackled feel free and the sad rejoice
But when it comes to work
Man, I'm just dirt
I'm talkin' Entry-level sand, here is what I'm worth
I could think of many grand ways for me to turn
This into a positive thing, like how I had to learn
How to get my lazy butt to do the dishes
My dad likened them to villains that I could diminish
Being a hero was something that took my interest
So next thing you know, I had the sponge and I was finished
But the funny thing about occupations
They only go away when you takin vacations
That's temporary relief of frustrations
Mondays always return with no patience
And then, you can do it all get again
Rinse and repeat, wash the glass of an end
Where the work week blends off to the horizon
Where Friday shines at you and Saturday is just smilin'

But if only
Work didn't suck

If only work, didn't suck
We could drive a truck, have fun and run amuck
Well, maybe that's too much, but just by a touch
A job shouldn't have to feel like it is a crutch
We rely on it so that we can function
Yet we're obstructed by our lack of freedom from it
So, for me, I'd like to change it
I'ma data center tech, but with some imagination
I'm the guardian of a space station
Near the planet Palma, I protect the ancients
Knowledge and data, from evil trying to take it
Dispatching heroes to the planets to save them
I thought of this at work and it was dope
Then my boss called me and the immersion was just choked
Will I try again? Maybe? Nope
I remember school like--dude, it was a joke
So much of us, wanted to grow up
I was the only one at graduation feelin' like throw up
Now, I don't feel tow up, but still bills will show up
Every single week, like yo what
Is the flippin' deal
And doesn't it occur to you that it's a sin steal
Yet you show up in my wallet like a thief for real
I demand an explanation and a meal
But let me guess, that cost money
And money has to come from a place that's not funny
We call it work, so we work til it hurts
Sometimes we get a meal but were treated like jerks
But with no explanation
I guess I didn't make enough to make the payment
Remember? I wanted a meal and explanation
But I couldn't make the payment

If Only
Work Didn't suck
