Darryl Atherton - Lost Souls in the City

Still waiting for the day after tomorrow
Need to get all my ducks in a row
Thinking about those who demand pity
The many lost souls in the city

These city streets are empty after dark
Cars have gone plenty of places to park
In the dark corners away from the ferment
Places the lost souls in the city frequent

Some still here others from the past
They're not the first won't be the last
The lost souls in the city do they belong
A question asked whether right or wrong

So many comments made and said
No interest if they're living or dead
Just a word salad all tossed together
Makes me wonder why you bother

The lost souls all across the city plane
Spread out like points on a weather vane
Do they matter and do we care at all
Give them a chance to stand not fall

Still waiting for the day after tomorrow
Need to get all my ducks in a row
Thinking about those who demand pity
The many lost souls in the city
