Francesca Brown - The Flood

The farmer tends to his land each day
As the years pass by and they globalize
And his heart is empty
And his land less plenty
And his country untrue
Dedication gone blue
So he sold all his land to the corporation
And they plowed down the hills for the naive generation
There was not such a trace of the animals that once grazed
They built up twenty homes and they bred up their own livestock
And one day it started to rain
Rain oh let it rain
Rain oh let it rain
And the flood rolled in and took down the corporation
And the hills were all gone except for the faulty foundations
It was a soupy situation
And they blame it on the changing weather
Oh they blame it on Mother Nature
Rain oh let it rain
Rain oh let it rain
So the farmer looked down upon the land no one could understand
And in the end there was not much to defend
No insurance would be sent
They wondered why after all of their prayers each night
How the lord could taketh away everything they worked so hard to pay
And the mother smiled
And reclaimed her lost child
