ReyMarie - Miss Teacher

Prop my feet upon the desk
Staring at a book inside my English class
So focused I don't notice half the students standing up to speak
Snapback to reality
Miss teacher glares at me
My turn to stand up, walk over to the board, speak up, anxiety flaring up
I stayed glued to my seat
What was the topic I was supposed to be presenting
I'm sorry I blacked out

This is why I hate school
Teachers don't care about the mental health
So I sit and act cool
Leave my mental health on the shelf
But that never works

Miss teacher walks in my direction
I began sweating, felt heart palpitations
The rooms closing in
Gotta learn to breathe air into my lungs again
She says
Get up, present, or go to the office with him
I'm tired of dealing with your emotions
It's your choice

This is why I hate school
Teachers don't care about the mental health
So I sit and act cool
Leave my mental health on the shelf
But that never works

Why was school so important
Never felt like I was learning
I just sit and stare at persons
Marinating on my hurting
I chose to walk out the classroom
Tired of all this bad juju
Okay you can come with me too
It's time we got out of this school

This is why I hate school
Teachers don't care about the mental health
So I sit and act cool
Leave my mental health on the shelf
But that never works
