Jim Skiff - Fullniss of the Year

I saw three doves this

Three doves sit on a wire
Full fat on ripened grain
They fly as I go walking
Through misty evening rain
Wet fields are green and growing
With wildflowers, stained
Butterfly pea and tansy
Yarrow and vervaine
And the days are deepening deepening
High summer soon is here
And the earth is slowly turning
To the fulness of the year
Field corn stands tall and tasseled
And waving in the wind
The ears so full and golden
Will soon be gathered in
Now Perseus' fair children
Fall flaming from the sky
Hot embers bright and blazing
Flare white before they die
And the days are deepening deepening
High summer soon is here
And the earth is slowly turning
To the fulness of the year
Now night comes like a footfall
Upon the garden path
Through meadows high and golden
And orchards ripe she'll pass
My love will soon be leaving
She is the summer's child
She cannot bear November's
Cold bitter winds so wild
And the days are deepening deepening
High summer soon is here
And the earth is slowly turning
To the fulness of the year
