Summer Joyfriend - Evening Walks

On evening walks
I briefly find
Stillness in the weight of the world
Only to be cut out by
The humdrum nature of a nearby radio

Talking heads that don't say much
Living proof of cellular rust
Hateful notion of a distant past
Dislodged in the museum of broken glass

A voice of reason was found in the plastic waste
Voices of treason
Dark deals made in haste

Walking along the uneven gravel
My mind is rarely at ease
Picture the collective string unravel
As I step on the crunched up dead leaves

The phantom keys jangle in my pocket
An innocence once implied
A sallow face precedes a fallow phase
Bound to linger on my sepia mind

A voice of reason was found in the plastic waste
Consternation
At the stagnant pace of change

Sunsets
That refute randomness
I got so caught up with pristine lies
I am afraid when days blur by

All the time in the world
Can't fix the pavement cracks
All talk but the walkway can't be walked
Nothing a cheap paint job can't do
