Lived-In - Lompoc

In the wake of all frustration
Passing time makes me impatient
So I search for a cheap invitation to leave
Five years this city I've called my home
Leave her as two when I arrived alone
Make a few calls on the mobile phone, it's done
This time I'm doing different
This time I won't be so naive
This time I can't be sure of the outcome
So we pack it all
And load the car
Make a break for the interstate
Leave loads behind
It's not the norm
But it's cheaper to replace
We drive it in ten hour shift
From L.A. to outside Salt Lake
I start to think about intangible things
Can't separate feelings from the place
The cracks in the road
The smell of the air
The sound of traffic
The reality people share
All shades of human passion
Existing there...
This time I'm doing different
This time I won't be so naive
This time I can't be sure of the outcome
This time I try to take more time to put my mind at ease
Here's to trying out new lifestyles
To packing up and moving
To giving up your comfort
And to possibly failing
We check in to an average hotel
Drink tickets are a nice surprise
This sleepy town is barely breathing
And I ponder its peoples' lives
Have a seat at the bar
Jack and Coke kind of place
Nothing better going on tonight
Take a look around at your new town
First night
This time I'm doing different
This time I won't be so naive
This time I can't be sure of the outcome
This time I take more time to try to put my mind at ease
This time I take more time to try to put my mind at ease
This time I try to take more time to put my mind at ease
This time I try to take more time to put my mind at ease
This time I try to take more time to try
Here's to trying out new lifestyles
To packing up and moving
To giving up your comfort
