Absent Windows - Exposition

She was a painter
She wasn't good
She had to work
Three jobs for food
She never loved us
She put us down
In her rules and excercises
Both of us would drown
And I would see her bad side
And I would fear
The things she'd do to us if our
Father wasn't here
So the day he died I hatched ourselves a plan
To make sure that we'd make it
Past our past and span
A decade with our stories
And memories
And memories
And every moment we would run I'd hear his voice
I want my mother back and he would rejoice
Every time a flash of light or message from her came
He didn't realize that her 'love' was just a frame
A frame to hide her hatred
A frame to wear me down
And get him back to her
And see my useless frown
So there we were
Her onto me
Me onto her
Her haunting me
My baby brother getting louder every day
The voices kicking in as I would make him say
'We can't go back, it's dangerous
She's onto us, she wants the worst'
I couldn't take it anymore so I just left
My baby brother on his own inside the nest
And there was never doubt it wouldn't take a day
She was right at his doorstep coming to say hey
And I would watch with teary eyes and let him go
I guess it's better if he simply doesn't know
