Shadows moving in a stable
Loom dark against a lantern's light
Golden glow surrounding figures
Helping Mary through the night
Outside a twinkling star keeps watch
Steady above that human scene
Shedding light on all below it
Touching the roofs with silver sheen
The figures pause and hold their breath
And suddenly a baby cries
They move again, now filled with joy
And happy tears fill Mary's eyes
The sky outside explodes with light
As angels gather far above
They laugh to hear the baby's cry
And sing with joy their songs of love
The golden light within the barn
The silver of the star-filled sky
Combine to welcome Mary's son
That baby with the tiny cry
Light of the World has come to Earth
A beacon for the lives of all
His cry will echo down the years
His truth shine from that distant stall
