I did not authorize – the Spanish Inquisition or – the Nazi occupation or
The Lenin's and the Mao's brand -of Communism -a twisted vision -a misted prison

I did not authorize –the launching of unholy Crusades –the stench of Hitler’s masquerade and
Crucifying Christians – in the early days - Just a grim charade – by those afraid

I did not authorize – sending young men off to war – attacking those at Pearl Harbor
Dropping down the big one – on Hiroshima - just to even the score - and a whole lot more

How can you slay a man -rape women and seize the land -and declare it’s my will
Did you hear my command – what do you not understand - in ‘Thou shall not kill’
In Thou shall not kill - That has been my will – and it always will

I did not authorize – putting down the Indian man – to dry desolate desert sands
Where’d you get the notion – that you own the land
It’s not part of the plan – I don’t understand

I did not authorize –putting people in slavery – grinding ‘em down in factories
Treating human beings – like commodities
Take their dignity – to feed the greed

When did you decide it’s fair – that food & even health care - are for those who’ve got the cash
And why do you continue to swear –that ‘Eye for an Eye’ prayer
You know it’s time has passed – Yes, it’s time has passed
There’s a new day comin’ at last – put revenge in the past

I did not authorize –spending money on bombs and guns –while millions of folks
are on the run
Trying to find some food - and shelter from the sun
Tell their daughters and sons – they can’t eat guns

I did not authorize – crashing down the World Trade towers – lives by suicide
devoured
Bombing blameless people – in a vengeful shower
Of primitive power – second-hand power

Give up that fallacy – that you represent me – when you kill for some God above
It’s not such a mystery – there’s a better way to be free – and it starts with love –
Yes, it starts with love – and there’s more than enough – with the power of love
