Atta Otigba - Carousel

I found a samurai
trapped in a dreamer's eye last night.
And he spoke of
shoguns and emperors
sworn oaths and precious swords last night.
Soldier tell me only this:
they who spill blood for bliss -
will they ever stop?
Tell me in a thousand years
could we slay all our fears
with our little swords?

And he said:
no sir it never ends
we're trapped in a carousel -
it goes on.
and all I do now is count my scars,
dig graves and thank my stars -
it goes on...
Carousel.

He told me
stories of ancient lords
who fell upon their swords that night.
And he spoke of
honour and settling scores,
old feuds and pointless wars last night.
Soldier tell me only this
did vengeance bring you bliss -
will this ever stop?
Tell me in a thousand years
could we slay all our fears with our little swords?

And he said:
no sir it never ends
we're trapped in a carousel -
it goes on...
and all I do now is circle stars,
dig graves and count my scars -
it goes on...
Carousel.

I found a samurai
and he raised this battle cry last night:
Don't fight the carousel.
Crush self, love will prevail
at first light...
but don't fight
the carousel.
