Rose Lens - Stale Green

It comes on like frigid air on fragile ears
Too sharp for keeping these impressionist thoughts
Consuming everything until there's only left enough to see
It's in your backyard, but I can see you backing away
But now it's in your hands, your feet are colder than the ice
It seems there's something in you holding restraint
But I'm coming up the curve to find the light stuck on a stale green
Oh spare me the thought
A crooked smile to hide that I'm running away
These things that keep us all awake
We're bearing someone's soul to take
But living like we don't own today
We're wallowing
Too selfish to give to ourselves
Yet somehow content to be living our lives
From the inside out
With rest assured that I will keep hiding from my dreams
While everything I want is in front of me
