9daysandwhy - Crusaders

Crusaders, fighting
Perilous, pursuers of the Holyland
Dawn arose, as the villages head monk
Bowed, under nine
Little ones played in meadows
Betwixt the Windmill, and the Hill
Until the bells rang, signaling the communion
Of the people on the Third Tuesday
Today is that not? Lest I show ignorance
To the Lord's compelling wonder
And now, we pray
Amen
And then the devil said, upon the
Shoulder of the head monk
Disperse of all the faithful men of the village
Around foreign lands, so that
They may be brutally slaughtered
To which the angel, retorted
The faithful men of the village have already
Left for the Holyland, guided by
Their faith, but fret not
Many foreign shall be slain
Both shared a chuckle in agreement
And then slept easily, the following night
But with more knights to come
The kind with shields, and swords
Whom, memorise holy scripture
Blessed be the soldiers, who travel by knight
Or horse
Travelling historic lands, in historic times
Crusaders, crusading
I imagine, as I lay here
In the camp of Nine
Upon the Third outpost
A barbarian scout has been spotted
Hiding in the shadows, and soon
The army will march upon the outpost
And I am scared
And then the voice of God, reasoned with him
Fear not, for Jesus never punished the
Heretics, as they punish themselves
With the burden of sin
