Mississippi Voss - Breezing By

Stuck inside, grab a pen, get the paper out
Stuck inside, find a beat, get the speaker loud
My absent mind, going door to door, like I'm on paper-round
I'm wide-eyed, my time flies, I sit here and make a sound
2020 kind of breezing by
And 2015 ain't as close as 2025
So I lie here, chilling, looking at the sky
As I pause cassette, my thoughts collect and then I realise
There's a new road ahead
A couple bumps, where you're headed to
An opportunity to edit, make a better you
It's not a case of now or never
You're not bound to it forever
But, if clever, then ahead of you is a better view
Don't feel pressure to change if you're happy though
Why recast if all that's needed is a cameo
So run your own race and let the incidental sort itself
How can you be happy, unless happy with your mental health
Breathe
Now me, that's what I'll centre on
I'm listening to Carner while just chilling in the summer sun
I'll clear my mind of what is done
And focus on what's just begun
I'm an unconventional guy
Cos I'm inspired when I'm listening to musicals, right
This is Mississippi Voss' unconventional vibe
So I'll show man who's the greatest when I step on the mic
Nah, I'm just playing with you baby
Yeah, I'm not the rapping type
A five foot seven guy, privately educated and white
I just get into the groove, add some funk and indie too
Give my vocabulary room, this ain't the pudding, this the proof
So I'll find my own voice, whether it be spoken word or poetry
Vowels and consonants all intertwined like they're supposed to be
Start to construct like I've just come out the ovary
Music's my happy place, it's where I feel at home you see
And I can't tell you the comforts I can find in it
The ways in which I feel connections, when I am transcribing it
It's been a hard day? I'll go and hide in it
Erase the craziness, escape, and then confide in it
It's mad the way you find yourself inside a song
Someone that you've never met reminds you of a time that's gone
They don't even know that you exist
Yet summarise your whole life
And leave you broken down in tears, until you feel your soul cry
Or maybe make you smile until your cheeks are sore
Or take your mind to a place it's never been before
But either way though, it puts your mind into motion
As it stimuluses thoughts and provokes some emotions
I'm an unconventional guy
Cos I'm inspired when I'm listening to musicals, right
This is Mississippi Voss' unconventional vibe
So I'll show man who's the greatest when I step on the mic
Nah, I'm just playing with you baby
Yeah, I'm not the rapping type
A five foot seven guy, privately educated and white
I just get into the groove, add some funk and indie too
Give my vocabulary room, this ain't the pudding, this the proof
You think of music like chords, beats and melody
But it's so much more, it transcends and mends, like it's a remedy
You see its defiance at Live Aid and One Love
Unites and wraps us up, embraced inside a warm hug
Lost in a labyrinth of some tunes a total stranger penned
So press repeat and turn it up, don't want the tune to end
It soundtracks lives, singing, dancing and love too
Joins us on a journey from Love You to I do
It makes moments, what's a road trip without it
I'll drive, your on the tunes, and we'll sing along throughout
It's a pastime, it's a hobby and for some, it's light-relief
Exercise inside my mind, a trampoline routine
That is the power of music, sometimes beyond belief
Bluetooth connection, speakers loud, a stress release
What's the world without music and what's the world without a tune
Imagine birds without a song or tides without moons
See, that just doesn't work
I just can't get my head around it
Like my favourite film, but someone's slowed it down and then re-wound it
Music is the picture, lyrics are the colour
You can substitute passion or go find another
So sit me down with headphones, some paper and a pen
Cos that's where I feel happiest, it's where I feel content
Yeah, music's where my heart is set, it makes my world go round
Wide-eyes, my time flies, sit here and make a sound
I'm an unconventional guy
Cos I'm inspired when I'm listening to musicals, right
This is Mississippi Voss' unconventional vibe
So I'll show man who's the greatest when I step on the mic
Nah, I'm just playing with you baby
Yeah, I'm not the rapping type
A five foot seven guy, privately educated and white
I just get into the groove, add some funk and indie too
Give my vocabulary room, this ain't the pudding, this the proof
This ain't the pudding, this the proof
Nah, I'm just playing with you baby
Yeah, I'm not the rapping type
A five foot seven guy, privately educated and white
I just get into the groove, add some funk and indie too
Give my vocabulary room, this ain't the pudding, this the proof
