Tiny Bit of Giant's Blood - D.O.A.

We was broke and hungry on a summer day
They sent the sheriff down to try and drive us away
We was sittin' ducks for the police man
They found a dirty faced kid in a garbage can

And I'm alone, I'm on the highway
Wanted, dead or alive, dead or alive

Broken down and dirty, dressed in rags
My from the day, my Mama told me boy, you pack your bags
I send the mayor down in his pickup truck
The jury look at me, say outta luck

And I'm alone, I'm on the highway
Wanted, dead or alive, dead or alive

Let's break it down
Let's break it down
I want to talk but with
Diminished volume of sound
I want to tell you
What this song means
Van Halen wrote it
But they don't know what it means

This is the story
Of a 12-year-old-boy
A 12-year-old boy
From Northwest Illinois
He's in his room
He's on his bed
Giant headphones
Sitting on his ample head
He's cranking Zeppelin
He's cranking Queen
He thinks that Freddie Mac's the
coolest thing he's ever seen but
Then he hears Dave
He feels a few feet taller
He dreams karate kicks
Maybe even a fur collar

But then reality hits
He knows his limits
There's a spotlight somewhere
But he sadly is not in it
And so he goes to school
He learns to work
He tries to love one person
He hustles for the perks
It's isn't glamorous
It's not quite amorous
It's not calamitous so
He builds up his staminas

But then one day,
He walks into a bar
And the people here
Are the sexiest he's seen by far
He touches these people
And they touch him back
He knows he's found his kindred
He knows he's found his track
These people shout
These people cry
These people yearn to live
Once before they fucking die
And so he tells them
Let's all hold hands
What's the craziest thing we can do?
Let's make an insane plan!
Let's shut down governments
Let's take down walls
Let's blow up social standards
Let's have a free for all
Let's have a night of pleasure
Let's all stop seeding pain
Let's challenge any rule
Be more human again

And then a voice spoke up
And she said NO!
I have a better idea
It will make the others seem so tiny, so tiny
This idea, it will spread
Like giant's blood in a water bed
And we said yes let's hear it
She fingered her hair
She said what we should do
Is so extremely fucking rare
The authorities will freak
We'll live our lives on the run
We'll be like fugitives
And I don't know why but it sounded like fun
She said here's the rumpus
She said here's the plan
She drew a tactical map
We followed it like a weatherman
We walked out to the street
We walked into a van
We put on outfits
That would have gotten our mothers banned
And we drove it to the schools
And we drove it to the parks
We scoured the youth of America
Until we found our mark
It was a boy
He was around 12
He had the roundest face
A face his parents could love
And we took that face
We held it in our hands
We could have taught that boy
We could have changed this land
But instead we gave him a beard
Of mud and dirt
We made his face filthy
We even soiled his shirt
And then we lifted him
We held him high
He didn't make a sound
He didn't yell or cry
He looked unfazed
Like a middle aged man
And so we lowered that boy
Into a black plastic Chicago style garbage can

Now, I'm broken down and dirty, dressed in rags
A from the day, my mama told me boy, you pack your bags
And we was sittin' ducks for the police man
They found a dirty faced kid in a garbage can

And I'm alone, I'm on the highway
Wanted, dead or alive, dead or alive

I'm gone
I'm a spark on the horizon
