Don McCollom - Loon

On a crisp bright morn
By the window I wait
Counting shimmering stars
Dance upon a lake

As fog hangs low
Through the valley and hills
And the rising sun
Chase way the chills

In the darkest room
Light shines and fades
As it slowly creeps
The shadow degrades

I feel the warmth
As you stir and sigh
Then the silence retreats
When I catch your eye

Locked in a trance
Our spirts embrace
An emotional high
Touched by grace

The sound came out
From your gaze so clear
On your lips the words
That I love to hear

Back at you babe
I love you too
There ain't no body
Hold a candle to you
A simple truth
I want you to hear
With you in my life
Your such a fine wife
I love you dear

In the afternoon
When the sun is high
An asylum of loons
Paint across the sky

From a thunder cloud
In the distance they break
At the edge of the woods
They splash in the lake

I'm crazy bout you
Loon helped me see
I'm head over heels
Like a loon can be

And later that night
Darkness perused
Never turned on the light
Started searching for you

You disappeared
Across the room
By the window I stayed
And sang you a tune

It wasn't romantic
But it made you sigh
A bit dramatic
With a pleasurable cry

I'm crazy bout you
Oh can't you see
A full blown loon
And you turn my key
Asylum I wait
To be set free
Come open the gate
And lift the weight
That encumbers me

Back at you babe
I love you too
There ain't no body
Hold a candle to you
A simple truth
I want you to hear
With you in my life
Your such a fine wife
I love you dear
