The Oversea Fruits - Around a Lazy Sun

We orbited a star, the cat and me
Warm rays cascaded off it
Baking my skin
We raced around the body in a blur
I squinted and held up my hand
It blazed with blinding white light
An unending explosion suspended in a veil of black
Multicolour nebulae swirled in a rainbow mixture
Just outside the system's boundaries
Huge structures of gas that swept
Across space in massive pillars
I opened my mouth, my tongue rolled out
It was true, space tasted like a raspberry cocktail
Sweet and sugary

Neko twirled next to me
He batted his floating tail
I cleared my throat, "they're out there"
He stopped and stared at me, upside down
He nodded slowly, "yes," his voice squeaked
I crossed my arms as the sun roared behind us
"And you do not wish to abandon this?"
Neko shook his head, "no"
Always so adamant, never let fear show
If I only I could see the world fearlessly
I sighed My heart thudded

The things were so close, floating just inside the system
Far out of reach of the sun's protective warmth
The armoured ghost, he didn't follow us
If only he orbited out here too My hands tremored
The things in the system are invincible, hateful
And punishing Rightly called Nightmares
Perhaps unoriginal, but well deserved
The armoured ghost knew
An unbroken gaze in his eyes
Tinged with terror told me all

To even see them, is to have infinite misery inflicted on you
Unbreakable terror Salted wounds scraped into your mind
I looked around the star
Scanning its orbit as we flew by it
The surface licked with vortexes of flame
I expected no one I saw no one
An empty, desolate system
Filled with nothing but them
To have this adamantium terror inflicted on oneself by a nightmare
Is to live immortally without respite
Forever screeching and thrashing against a padded cell
Stories about them never held back
My heart hammered in my ears
The wind shrieked as we blew by
The only relief, the creator to have found a little mercy
To end it for you right there

I inhaled deeply, the sun was close
It's warmth a protective shield
I opened my palms and our orbit altered
We flew away
The sun grew smaller
Its warmth still protected
It was time to see
