Jake Wavesfield - Never Heard Before

Keep your heart open
Look outside
One day you might have someone
That is coming to your door
Never lock that door
Leave the driveway light on
And if you do so you might find
A Story never heard before

There's a puppy down that road
Little thing you could adore
Always looking out for it
Even if it is a chore
Truth is I don't want any pets
Had enough, can't handle more
Yet I never said no
Always let it through my door
But that doesn't mean nothing
Anything, something's always for
Some reason, right? But it isn't
Take a treat out my drawer
Believe it, I got a lil' good in me, that's the issue
Always leave my door open when somebody needs a tissue

Keep your heart open
Look outside
One day you might have someone
That is coming to your door
Never lock that door
Leave the driveway light on
And if you do so you might find
A Story never heard before

Now the days got worse
Puppy needs some help
And I let my door open every time I hear a yelp
Wake up middle of the night if I have to, no regrets
Help it from every threat, give a treat, when in debt
Up every hour til puppy closes it's eyes
Dry them after puppy cries
There for both lows and the highs
And all this time I don't want no prize
I just know that puppy deserves more than these lies
And these guys that don't know how to treat a pet right
And I'll fight every one that I have to til they're out of sight
Like a satellite, always keep track of it's frights
Give a treat, lighten up when puppy's looking white
Never ask nothing back, puppy take a bite
I'll run track if I have to, so puppy is alright
Have a hole in my heart, let it slide
Puppy checks if I'm okay but don't know that I lied
I'm destroyed, open wide

Keep your heart open
Look outside
One day you might have someone
That is coming to your door
Never lock that door
Leave the driveway light on
And if you do so you might find
A Story never heard before

Now the skies clear up and puppy's found a new home
I couldn't be happier but some don't trust my tone
What could be Jakey's motives, will he make them known
All this time did he want a puppy of his own
And not a puppy, the puppy from down that road
If shown a chance would he take it on, throw the stone
Well, he didn't, so I guess we'll never know
To this day, leaves the lock off his door
