I take time to bathe in the sunshine
When this little light of mine
Is dying to be relit
You can't always cease the suffering of others
But I remember how love is not a physical reach
How its energy travels when unity speaks
For we are not strangers to dark ages like this
Historically we have maneuvered through dangers like this
For too long we have been destroyers
But now let us be protectors
For too long we have tried to conquer
But now let us be the nurturers
Because one soldier does not win a war
Our skin was made to heal because we have been here before

I only ask what lessons will you carry
When peace is not around
What will be your prayer
Your mantra
Your medicine
When bandages are not enough to cover the cracks in your crown
I hope your pages are filled with self reflection
And skills of restoration
I hope it reveals that every sunrise comes with second chances
And a new sense of community
And new gifts of laughter
I hope you cherish every hello
And every goodbye hug after
That way we know whenever peace is not around
