Jackie K - Nurse Jane

On the shores of Echo Lake as the Great War was done
She dressed in white and went to work in the sanatorium
Nurse Jane doled out tablets
And help to those in need
She cleaned and fed
They coughed and bled
The valley of TB
Rows of single metal beds and nobody could rest
Endless coughing from the throat
And pain inside the chest
Jane wiped the brows of those in need
And did it with good grace
Wheeling patients from their rooms
To find a sunny place
When Jane could could no longer give
She bid the world adieu
Tired of the suffering, she took thirty with her too
She couldn't cross over so Jane still roams the San
Gliding over checkered floors
Where she sits and pauses at the door
Summer camps with concert nights
And still Nurse Jane stays on
To greet all the musicians, with her own special song
Jane won't get to leave this place
She's in limbo for all time
La la da da la di da da
Di da da la la la
