MACKmai - 92 'Til Infinity (feat. J. Chiang)

Made it in America
Made it in America
Made it in America
Made it in America

I was writing in my book, pencil and a paper
An outlet, an avenue to save my thoughts for later
Everyday, after school chillin' at my home
Ridin' in the car, sometimes spittin' off the dome
A lot of thinking, a little bit of writing
I was makin' moves, but flow was rewarding
Catchin' my bars flowin' through my recordings
Penny for my thoughts, yeah I could afford it
A struggle everyday, a symbol of toughness
An art form representin' poetic justice
This is my escape, an outlet to a place
Crossin' off my list like I made a mistake
The flow was sweet so I had a little taste
Like a CV, but I never copy paste
Voice on my mind, snap shot, no cap thoughts
Midnight waiting for the MACK drop

Shoot for the stars, so you land on a cloud
But what if I fall and don't make a sound
This is Mai American dream
So the pressure builds, and it's all on me
Made it in America
I made it in America
Made it in America
Look Mom, we made it in America

Got them Asians roots, but I was made here
The story of a kid that always faced fear
A collection of thoughts that would never fade
Are my values takeout, or were they homemade
I been lookin' lookin', lookin for the day
Lookin' lookin' for a way to turn the page
If this is the dream, was I made by America?
Or product of those PBS characters
A product of blood, sweat, and tears
A reminder of my Grandma, drowned in Everclear
Am I seeking fulfillment? What's my motivation?
Am I seeking purpose? What's work with dedication
Was I beyond humble beginnings
Was I destined to give than focus on winnings
Makin' ends meet by getting a job
All I am, livin' proof of beating the odds

Shoot for the stars, so you land on a cloud
But what if I fall and don't make a sound
This is Mai American dream
So the pressure builds, and it's all on me
Made it in America
I made it in America
Made it in America
We made it in America

Countin' my blessings, reflect what I've seen
And what I've heard, everything I strive to redeem
I do it for my team, everything for the squad
Fam, friends, and community no need to applause
When I was growing up, my dad threw fits
Didn't know if he would throw fists
Cops being called, the answer to the door
Warning given to my dad on the downstairs floor
Parents fight, woke me in the middle of the night
Took a flight downstairs, brothers holdin' me tight
"Everything will be alright" they said
The words ringing from my past in my head
One day, he left and just split
After that moment, told myself to never quit
Always aim for the top, always give what I got
Don't be dad, don't be an afterthought

Shoot for the stars, so you land on a cloud
But what if I fall and don't make a sound
This is Mai American dream
So the pressure builds, and it's all on me
Made it in America
I made it in America
Made it in America
We made it in America

To become what I aspire to be
Greatness with Empathy
Pave my way, I got the abilities
This is my story, 92 'til infinity
