T. Hayes - Act 6: Rebirth

He wasn't too far away now he begins to spot landmarks
That the troops coined whenever they would go out on expeditions
It wouldn't be long now he thought
But he hears something
A piercing desperate painful song
It was too loud for him to disregard so he lowers his altitude
To the forest below in an effort to investigate
There! Not too far off in the distance he spies a fellow mockingbird encaged
In the talons of a great hawk as it flies most likely to its home to feast
He did not recognize who the mockingbird was but that did not matter to him
He knew to be no match for a hawk of its size but he pursued anyway
The hawk was oblivious to any plot against him
Therefore he flew slow and low enough for the young blackbird to catch up to him
And boom! Just like that the young blackbird is able to inflict great damage
To the wing slamming into it beak first and he continued to hang on
Both the hawk and he flailing into violent descent clawing and flapping at each other
Until they both slam into the ground with tremendous force
There was nothing but black
Blackness seemed to be the fate of the encounter
The young blackbird had dyed before he could ever do right by his people
His life had been in vain
But then there was light
Then black
Then light
Then black
Then light and when he finally opened his eyes
He realized he was in a room that resembled his old room back home
He figured this must be limbo
He arose slowly and slightly dizzy
He walks slowly to the light of the doorway
As he passes thru all sees is white
Then noise and lots of it
His eyes begin to adjust to the sunlight and he sees his entire village before him
They sing songs of praise as the village elders crown him right where he stands
Astonished by the acclamation of his people
It turns out that his battle with the hawk left him victorious but unconscious
Immediately after he gave his initial attack on the hawk kamikaze style
The hawk released its prey from its grasp
The mockingbird he saved turned out to be a citizen of his village
After being freed the mockingbird watched the entire fight go down
And immediately flew back home to send a rescue team for him
He told the town the whole story of how the rogue prince had saved him
Amazed at the heroic act that proved a change of heart they decided that it was time
The young hero was crowned king as he awoke from his courageous victory
And as he stretched his wings one more time he saw that his grey and white had returned
He was home
