C. S. Phoenix - Alternate Ending, Pt. 2

Maybe
We would live in a little mountain town
Foster and adopt kids
Who just needed love
More love than they thought they deserved

We would play punk rock
And emo music
But never forget about the classics either

We would let the kids cry when they needed to
Because we never got to
But we would also teach them to be brave in the face of adversity
Because life never stops being hard

We would pour our hearts
Into other humans
Until the world was filled with people
Who understood
We all deserve love

Maybe
We would move to the city
You would be a bartender
And hold the secrets of strangers
Tight, because they need someone they can trust

I would work at a youth center
And help underserved kids
Find their path in life

Your girlfriend would be an artist
Respected in her field
But just wild enough to keep your attention
My boyfriend would run a farm-to-table restaurant
He would be down-to-earth
And ride a motorcycle

They would sometimes question our closeness
And we'd have to have jealousy talks
A lot, in the beginning
But they would come to realize
That love
Is not always romantic
And so, a mutual love would grow between us all

As we transition through life sharing a loft
And eventually moving on to live apart from each other
We would cherish the time we had
And the growing up we did together
Maybe
We would backpack across Europe
Fall in love with a little town
And never leave

Maybe
You would be a teacher
In our hometown
And continue to impact those around you
Everyday

Maybe
We would stay friends forever

Maybe
We would drift apart

But all I have is
Maybe
Because I lost you
Too young

Take me to that alternate ending
Where my best friend didn't kill himself when I was 15
