L.D. Hardin - Angst

On greasy streets, under parking lot lights
We're lost in a maze of blurred nights
Searching for our truth in a world of lies
Where every smile hides a thousand cries

We're youth who vainly clipped our wings
Trying to fly through a sky that stings
The harder we endeavor to break free
The tighter the chains of bitter reality

Insecurity, like a fire in our veins
Burning bright with passion, but fading with the rains
We scream into the void, but no one hears our cries
Caught in the crossfire of truth and lies

We're rebels with a cause, or so we claim
Like the ones we rage against, we're just the same
Lost in a chaos of our own design
Thinking we can outrun the hands of time

We're chasing ghosts in the graveyard hour
Searching for meaning in the darkest power
But the more we seek, the less we find
To truth and reality we're naively blind

Insecurity, like a fire in our veins
Burning bright with passion, but fading with the rains
We scream into the void, but no one hears our cries
Caught in the crossfire of truth and lies

We're chasing the hollow virtues of other's
Convinced to turn against our own Mothers
Caught in a cycle of propaganda and pain
We're used up for someone else's gain

We're chasing ghosts in the graveyard hour
Searching for meaning in the darkest power
But the more we seek, the less we find
To truth and reality we're naively blind

Apprehension, like a storm in our souls
We're drowning in waves of someone else's goals
A cycle of pleasing others with this or that
Forgetting ourselves and where we're at
