Vold Book - Annunciation

The stage is so very far, a million miles away
And the ones who saw you there, couldn't even say
What they saw that night, your spirit came alive
Searching for an answer, to make everything alright

With one foot out of the Middle Ages
He sought to paint things as they really are
In relief and perspective, of hue and emotion
He was, the early dawn of the Renaissance
And it is in his spirit, that I go forward

Please don't misinterpret this hymn for a commodity, to be bought and sold
For some things are still sacred, some things will never grow old

I feel it in my heart, that there's still a prayer
One that can be spoken and believed
I know there must be something sincere, that still exists
After all these years, that we've wrestled with ourselves
We are oh so very tired, but the truth is that we've only just begun
Renewal shall take place underneath the sun
And time will show that the old growth
Will be replaced with a new one

You tried to listen, but could not understand
That this life's a garden, where you shall have a vision
The first impressions of a seed
Our lives are in great danger, and we cannot run from this
To reverse the rising tide so your purpose becomes clear
A hidden communion: and the dream sprouts inside of you

A shot of love is cast into your body from a spear
Deep into the belly, of your heart
Now awaken from your fears
It is the morning of the day, the sun is out
Ecstasy rings in your ears
Back on the waterfront, everything's at peace
I hear you cry, but I cannot reach you

If they only knew
If they only knew

An Angel, from on high, comes to you with love
They don't want you to hear, but I intend to speak the words
That my heart tells me to say
As Mother Mary whispers that the Gods won't intervene
And she says that I am asleep, and falling short

To manifest the dream through my creations
I seek to influence those to come
To continue on the way

Now be your own judge, or go your separate way
Don't hate me just because the bitterness is potent
And the innocence won't last
In such harsh conditions demons breed
I am far from perfect, but I'm with you till the end

Ultimately, I am a vulnerable man
Who bares all that he can to pierce
Through the world to the heart of himself
The sheer cliffs of authenticity are a rare climb
Indeed, for we use ourselves to ascertain the truth
And can never be certain that what we see
Is not our own reflection

It is a lifelong process to know yourself
Amidst the constant change
But with acknowledgement of our station
I say to you: be true

The vision has now passed, but I was there too
And I've grown a little bolder in my ways
In this place where angels are born
You can take it from me: the things that we've been shown
Live on, for everyone to see

Prop up your mortal remains
Against the wooden barn
Before you know it, you are gone
Into the darkness of the psyche
Unknowable; or tarry on
