Goat of Mendes - Black Earth of Alesia

On a pilgrims path I trod northward bound
On my way the idols of the Black One I found
Leading straight to a most fertile stretch of land
Where proud Vercingetorix once made his last stand
The smell of history lies in the breeze, in the stones
Lush trees and meadows grew upon ancient bones

Alesia!
Where the faithful in battle once perished
Dark Soil
Where the fallen spawned new life to flourish
The Black Earth
Soaked in blood and in tragedies' essence
Alesia
The fallen gods sent me their message

Souls long forgotten, their whispers I hear
They tell me their tales, in the dark soil they stir
My fear of mortality freezes me cold
In cold moonlights haze my fate is foretold
For a new life to bloom another one is forfeit
The Black Earth grows in strength by devouring the dead

Their lifes sacrificed, their husks left to rot
As frail avatars of the Dying God

The wind carries the song of the carrion crows
Death's eerie minstrels on harvest fields
Where men, women and children once died in droves
To fertilize dark soil and seed
Womb of souls, dreaded life's destroyer
The Black Widow that feeds on her doomed lover
By the impassionate face of the moon above
I yield to the terrible might of our mother
In Darkness

On Alesia's ground my pilgrimage ends
Between fear and enlightenment, my energy spent
Though my mind screams defiance and my mortal heart bleeds
My task nears completion, as I've planted my seed
On the path of the Black One, I found for what I've sought
The key to the mystery of the Dying God
