Lou Heffernan - Calm Before The Storm

2020 By Lou Heffernan

Calm Before the Storm

A jagged bolt of lightning burst from a dark and angry sky.
He’s walkin’ in the rain ‘cause the weather at home is far from dry.
She warned him with her eyes a storm was movin’ in.
But like a fool he ignored the signs, now he’s soaked to the skin, wond’rin’ . . .

CHORUS:
How do we return
to the calm before the storm was ragin’?
How do we begin
to make amends and stop the blamin’?
Soothe these broken hearts?
How do we return to the calm before the storm?

As he made his way back home, he thought about the fight.
But couldn’t quite remember why he fought so hard to prove he’s right.
Rumblings of the argument ringing in his ears.
Angry words like lightning bolts stinging through the tears.

REPEAT CHORUS

When she met him at the door,
he knew things would be alright.
‘Cause she had the same questions
burning in her eyes.

How do we return
to the calm before the storm was ragin’?
How do we begin
to make amends and stop the blamin’?
Soothe these broken hearts?

How do we return. . .
How do we return…
to the calm before the storm?
