Slight Of Mind - Cliffs Of Insanity
Off to the west where I can see
Sailing through the misty sea
I wash upon a distant shore
Through the fog, the mist and hail
I'm in a land where I must prevail
I hear a voice calling from beyond
But I'm too far from the top
An obstacle stands in my way
It's a cliff too high to climb
As I run blind I trip and fall
I see before me a giant wall
And the light of reality it fades
Behind the door
The voice is gone and now I'm lost
Must escape at any cost
Now I realize I failed like the rest
And my mind withers in madness
Throughout all of my life
It's been a conflict with myself
Trying to climb that mountain top
Just to reach my destiny
And I'm prepared for death
I lie here cold and still
And as the light turns to dark
For this is the end of it all
As the highest mountains crumble and fall
The eerie sound of insanity calls
And now the journey's at it's end
From a force of will standing high
I have a feeling that I will soon die
No more living among the free
Join me at the Cliffs of Insanity
So close am I to this goal
Yet I'm too weary to go on
And as I breathe my final breath
Embraced in the arms of death
For this is the end of it all
