The Bean - Cowardice
Feel the air on your tender skin
Charge with electrical fiery teeth burning in
A man and a dog walk somewhere
The dog thinking thoughts
you'd never suspect were there
It draws like paper thin confidence
across what's mine
It draws blood into your waiting cupped hands,
you drink like wine
I flew to Venus last night
With my hopes and dreams
She lives just next door
but the distance is greater than it seems
Got pulled back down to earth by gravity
Venus said, hey where you goin,
"Why are you leaving me?"
Cowardice is a friend of mine
I met through you
Cowardice is a lover's child
Wild and foreign and fleet of foot
And able to jump through a hoop or two
The man tells the dog in a stern voice
To go lie down
The dogs turns into a dragon
And swallows the man whole
The man acquiesces
Resides in the belly of the beast
Content to be fuel for the fire
And spoils of the feast
It tastes like poison or acid,
It eats one away
Corrodes the firmament
One hoped would stay
I flew to Saturn last night
With my hopes and dreams
He said, "hey man, what happened to Venus?"
I said, "she's smaller than she seems."
He said "tell me about it,
She used to wear these rings
But they kept slipping off her fingers,
She's got a way of slipping out of things.
Cowardice is a friend of mine
I met through you
Cowardice is a lover's child
Wild and foreign and fleet of foot
And able to jump through a hoop or two
Give me your apathy, I will swallow it
And if you quit on me No I will not agree
I hear a symphony I will follow it
Don't you lose time to me
Walk with me Walk with me
Look at the future me You can't know it
If you lie to me
Talk to me Talk to me
This is what I see And I will show it
I do not agree
No, I do not agree
Give me your apathy
No don't quit on me
I hear a symphony
Don't lose time to me
Look at the future me
Please don't lie to me
This is all I see
And no, I do not agree
