Pretend Chess - Crime

In a sense, I lost my way and stumbled
Fell, into the thicket
They say "youth is wasted on the young"
But this was something different
It's hard to say
But "it's over, it's over!" and over, and over again
I'm going to lose my mind

What do I gain from playing the victim?
What do I gain from spending half the day in bed?
There was a comfort in the faded worn out jacket
I'd take it off but it's cold outside

You gave me that scar
Blood soaked my car
But I'd come too far...

One-way street, I could never see
Didn't look both ways
And the static fades when you walk away
But I still feel hazy

That coat's dirty
The pain's worse
At Mike's house with your curse
There's dry heaves
And wet leaves
And our show's still mid-season
I got too high

You stare at my face
You know that I'm tame
So I run away...
And you'd do the same

And I could try...
I could try...

Fall from great height
Take what is mine
What was my crime?
